  1. Demonstrate rider's balance, rein contact, and use of seat.
  2. Correct useage of dressage whip.
  3. Discuss and execute elementary flexion (longitudinal and lateral), and appropriate collection and extension.
  4. Ride schooling figures to include circles, half circles, and straight lines at each gait.
  5. Understand the basic principle of the horse's acceptance of the bit.
  6. Demonstrate an effective half-halt.
  7. Describe and execute forward impulsion, counter and true bend, with cadence.
  8. Describe and execute aids for accurate transitions.
  9. Discuss the differences between increasing speed and lengthening stride.
  10. Correct execution of center line and various sized circles.
  11. Discussion of performance to include knowledge of balance, suppleness, rhythm and impulsion.
  12. Demonstrate effective use of the dressage arena, including corners.
  13. Begin to understand basic test strategies and techniques.
