You will Learn how to...

Ride independently with control at the walk, sitting and posting trots on correct diagonals, and canter, as well as...

  1. Demonstrate change of diagonal at posting trot upon command.
  2. Demonstrate change of diagonal at posting trot with change of rein.
  3. Trotting without stirrups maintaining correct postition and control.
  4. Begin cantering without stirrups.
  5. Canter in half seat without stirrups.
  6. Trot without reins upon command in enclosed area.
  7. Canter without reins upon command in enclosed area.
  8. Demonstrate full seat at walk, trot, and canter.
  9. Trot on correct diagonal performing turns, circles, figure 8, ect..
  10. Canter figure 8 with simple change of leads.
  11. Correct use of the crop.
  12. Beginning cavalletti work.

Horesemanship Skills Include:

  1. Demonstrate and explain inside and outside turns of horse being free-lunged.
  2. Demonstrate and explain free-lunged halt cue.
  3. Identify five basic equine colors and markings.
  4. Daily cleaning of tack.
  5. Demonstrate taking horse's temperature; know normal range.
  6. Demonstrate taking pulse; know normal range for rest and work.
  7. Understand all terminology used during the lessons.

**All horsemanship and riding skills are progressive. The student must be proficient in skills of the current and all lower levels before advancing to the next level, Intermediate II.
